Organic materials are made from fibres, either man made or plant based that do not use non-toxic chemicals, the benefits include environmental as well as the benefits to consumers with sensitive skin, organically produced materials can be much kinder to consumers with sensitive skin and they can also have anti bacterial properties and allow your skin to breathe properly.
Organic cotton comes from plants that have not been grown with no use pesticides, the production of conventional cotton creates more pesticide residue than any other crop in the world. There also lots of polluting chemicals that are also used in the processing of convention cotton. By using organically produced cotton you can be sure that no polluting chemicals have been used and no residual chemicals remain on the fabric to irritate the consumers skin.
An alternative to using cotton in the first place are other fibres these include hemp fibre, with a strong natural resistance to pests makes hemp based material a sustainable alternative, it also has a resistance to bacteria. A similar fibre is that of jute which is an affordable alternative fabric to cotton that is both, recyclable and bio-degradable and is able to blend with other fabrics.
Linen is another alternative organic material with a number of similar features to hemp. There is also the use of silk or there is another organic fibre called tencel it is made from wood pulp.
Wool is a renewable fibre and organically produced wool degrades better than that produced conventionally. Bamboo fibres are an easily replenishable and grow easily without the use of pesticides which makes it a suitable alternative material. Bamboo is suitable for those with sensitive skins and is completely biodegradable. Comfortable to wear, the fabric drapes well and is often used by designers.
Other possibilties include recycled polyester unlike conventional polyester this is made from recycled bottles and even polyester clothes. There is also soy fabric, a soft fabric which is made from the by products of the soy oil processing industry, unfortunately it is often blended with other non organic materials.
